2014 Easter Season

stw_church_easter_sGive Up, Take Up, Lift Up!

In his Lenten message for 2014, Pope Francis takes inspiration from the words of St. Paul (Cor 8:9), and asks us to contemplate Paul’s invitation to live “a life of evangelical poverty.”

We can begin to embrace this call by fasting from or “giving up” material things, including foods, that are superfluous to our basic needs; “taking up” charitable habits that are directed to helping and caring for others; and “lifting up” our brothers and sisters who are in need through giving alms, praying and participating in devotional practices.*

For a complete list of devotional practices during this Lenten Season please refer to the calendars below.

March Calendar    April Calendar

On March 5th, Ash Wednesday begins the Lenten Season.  Mass (and distribution of ashes) will be at 9:00 AM and 7:00 PM.

Each Friday, Mass and Stations of the Cross will be celebrated.  Mass begins at 7:00 PM followed by the Stations of the Cross.

Series of Lenten Talks

Father Robert Kropac, pastor of St. Wendelin and St. Peter’s parishes, will offer a Lenten series entitled, “Feasting at the Table of the Lord — Exploring the Mystery of Faith“.  This series is especially intended for parishioners of both St. Wendelin and St. Peter but is open to all.  The talks will take place on 3 Lenten Mondays:

Monday, March 10th at St. Wendelin:  “A Place at the Table”.  Mass at 7:00 PM followed by the talk.

Has there ever been a command followed as “Do this in memory of me”?  We explore what God is doing in calling us to table fellowship.

Monday, March 24th at St. Peter:  “As Fire is Meant for Burning!”  Evening Prayer (Vespers) at 7:00 PM followed by presentation.

To participate in the Eucharist is to open one’s self to the power and the action of God’s Holy Spirit.

Monday, March 31st at St. Wendelin:  “Now in this Banquet”.  Mass at 7:00 PM followed by the presentation.

What we do in the celebration of Mass here and now, plunges us into a greater mystery.

Wednesday, March 12th will be a Day of Confession.  Confession will be heard at St. Wendelin from 5:00 PM to 6:15 PM and St. Peter from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM.

On Tuesday, April 1st we will once again have Soup Night.  Soup Night at 6:00 PM in the rectory followed by a Penance Service beginning at 7:00 PM in church.

On Tuesday, April 8th, Bishop Gries will preside over the Sacrement of Confirmation beginning at 7:00 PM.
